Scout Aviation Camps
| These camps are organised jointly by local members of the Light Aircraft Association and the Scouts Association. Both Air Scouts and Land Scouts are offered this wonderful opportunity. Camps begin on the Friday evening, but the serious work starts next morning. Local pilots volunteer to cover various aspects of aviation, aiming at the three badges Aeronautics, Meteorology and Navigation. | ||

| Aeronautics Syllabus | Meteorology Syllabus | Air Navigator Syllabus |
| During
the weekend, the scouts learn these skills, then take on the role of
navigator for a 1/2 hour flight in the local skies, during which they
give the course for the pilot to steer and then the new course when
they reach each of the turning points.
Other activities include sessions on designing and making a glider, learning aircraft marshalling, and practising making the radio calls between pilots and air-traffic controllers. |
