The LAA Armstrong-Isaacs Scholarship

The scholarship is for sponsorship for NPPL training for single-engine piston aircraft.

Requirements:-

1)    Be a British subject.

2)    Be aged 22 or under on the date of application.

3)    Be an individual LAA member for a minimum of 6 months prior to application and remain in membership for the period of the bursary.

4)    Be medically fit to hold a National Private Pilot's Licence.

5)    Show evidence of ability to contribute £500 to the total cost of flying training as evidence of commitment.

Selection will be by a Board including the Fund Trustees and entirely at their discretion.

 

The scholarship is awarded every two years; the closing date for the 2009 bursary will be the end of November 2008.

Air League Flying Scholarships

2008 Air League Educational Trust Competitions

There are categories for:-

       Flying Scholarships towards an NPPL (SEP)     (Closing date 31st January 2008)

       Gliding scholarships to undertake cross-country or aerobatic gliding, and SLMG flying, 

        Flying bursaries for advanced flying training in single-engine piston aeroplanes, 

        The Breitling scholarship for a PPL (Balloons) 

        Engineering scholarships providing holiday work-placements in the UK aerospace industry.

The closing date for all applications except the NPPL Scholarship is 29 February 2008.

Royal Aero Club Trust Bursaries

The Royal Aero Club Trust, as part of its Flying for Youth program administers a Bursary Scheme for young people. 

Every year it awards a number of bursaries, each of up to £500, to suitable candidates.

The scheme is divided into three categories of Bursaries:


(1) Flying Bursaries for those wishing to advance from one recognised level of air sport to the next higher level and wish to upgrade their existing qualifications;

(2) Flight-Sim Bursaries for Computer Flight Simulation enthusiasts wishing to gain practical experience of flying or an air sport.

The scheme and the bursaries comprise all types of air sports and aviation-related activities including: paragliding, gliding, hang-gliding, parachuting, microlight aircraft, helicopter, fixed wing aircraft and the designing, building and flying model aeroplanes.

(3) Aero-modelling Bursaries for the designing, building and flying of model aeroplanes.

 

Closing date for applications is 31 March 2008.
