   "Fly Your Plane" Competition          (closing date 1st June)

Organised by the British Model Flying Association (BMFA) in conjunction with IWM Duxford, the “Childrens Flight Challenge 2008” on 28th June 2008 at Duxford is open to teams of young people up to the age of 18 from any school/youth groups.   

  • Entrants will have a fun-filled day with free access for the team and 2 adults to the spectacular museum facilities.

  • Medals and Certificates for all entrants.

 Teams are arranged in various age groups as per examples:  Junior (<12 years), Senior (12-14) etc.

 The challenge is to build a ‘simple to construct model’ from the BMFA range of Educational Kits with the aim of achieving the longest flight duration.

£500 bursaries from The Royal Aero Club Trust 'Flying for Youth' program :- 

    (1) Flying Bursaries for upgrading qualifications within air sport  

    (2) FlightSim Bursaries for Flight Sim enthusiasts to take part in flying or another air sport

The scheme and the bursaries cover all types of air sports and aviation-related activities including: paragliding, gliding, hang-gliding, parachuting, microlight aircraft, helicopter, fixed wing aircraft and the designing, building and flying of model aeroplanes.

Applicants for these bursaries must hold British Citizenship, be permanently resident in UK and aged 16-21 years. Keep your eye on the website for the next applications closing date.
